Microsoft is delivering two Human Resource solutions

The Human Capital Management (HCM) module, as part of Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations,

and

Dynamics 365 for Talent, which includes three applications: Core HR, Attract and Onboarding.

Dynamics 365 for Talent is the first, of what is to be many, sealed solutions. Previously the HCM functionality was only available in the Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations solution. It is now carved out and positioned as an independent module, with integrations available to different solutions such as Dynamics AX 2012 R3 and Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. 1. Why Dynamics 365 for Talent?

The positioning of the Dynamics 365 for Talent is to provid integration of a powerful HR solution for all the Dynamics AX 2012 R3 customers, In combination with Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, or as a standalone Human Resource Solution for anyone who needs a HR solution.

3. Can we add extra functionality or extend in Dynamics 365 for Talent or in the apps?

No, not in the previous traditional way. Microsoft has sealed the Dynamics 365 for Talent apps. You cannot add or customize functionality in the existing app by coding. The ability for ‘customization’ can be done by way of: Extra fields (no intelligence), Power apps (more intelligence) and/or External Apps (the best way), such as those provided by specialists like FourVision.

4. Are these apps directly linked with Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations?

In this new structure, the apps will communicate via a Common Data Model. This is one centralized database. This provides, that where a change is made in one app, as in Dynamics 365 for Talent, it will then become visible and usable in the other one, like Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.

5. Can we still utilize apps from ISV’s?

Yes, FourVision will bring several apps to the market with the added advantage of being used as mobile apps, to increase, to add country specific or businesses specific functionality.

6. Will Dynamics 365 for Talent be only cloud based?

Yes, at this time the solution is cloud based only, Microsoft has indicated that the cloud will be their focus.

7. Will Dynamics 365 for Talent be integrated with other solutions?

Yes, it is to be available in combination with: CDS integration (Common Data Services), Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Dynamics AX 2012, Global payroll, LinkedIn, Talent onboarding and Talent Attract (Recruitment).

8. Do we need extra licenses?

Dynamics 365 for Talent can be acquired separately from Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. It can also be delivered as part or with Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. If a customer is using the apps of ISV’s they need at least one Power App license to deploy and to use only the team member license.

9. What if we are using AX 2012?

There will be integration points with Dynamics 365 for Talent. In this case you are not forced to move to the cloud with Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. You can protect your investment and at the same time have access to the most modern HR solution in the world.

10. Should we go to Talent all the way?

No, you can modularity implement Talent. You do not have to get rid of your current HR solution right away. You can integrate with your HR application through the Common Data Model. Microsoft is working together with third parties to make this integration happen.

11. What is Microsoft working on for the next coming period. Can you share some ideas?

a. Video resumes for attract, including asking candidates to make videos about specific topics. The video will be translated to a transcript (Voice to text) so you can easily jump to the fragment. Resume and video parsing will be part of it and you can search on this.

b. News feeds for employees.

c. Score cards for candidates and employees.

d. A virtual assistant is offered by Microsoft and this will be used in the future.

e. Microsoft will integrate with job boards to publish to job board and will develop API.

13. Should I start implementing with Dynamics 365 for Talent or should I wait?

We advise to start with Dynamics 365 for Talent + the apps of FourVision. When a customer is implementing ERP they will start with Talent. There will be a moment that Microsoft will no longer support the HCM functionality in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. So, it is important to know what is going away in Dynamics for Finance and Operations and what will come to Dynamics for Talent.

14. Where can I get Dynamics 365 for Talent?

Via a Cloud Solution Partner like FourVision or via an Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft.

1. What is the development for the HCM module?

Microsoft will remain developing for the core HRM functionality. In the last release of July 2017, more functionality is available within areas like: Benefits, Grievance, Absence, Onboarding and Power BI reports.

2. Is this all available in the next release?

Yes.

3. Is it possible to add extra functionality by myself as a customer, or can I use ISV solutions?

Yes, this is possible. You can utilize add ons or add extra functionality by yourself or via a partner.

4. Can I expect more functionality in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations?

Not that much in the future, moving forward, the progress will be within Dynamics 365 for Talent and through use of apps. Microsoft will support Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations for a minimum of 3 years. Microsoft had indicated they will focus and invest in Dynamics 365 for Talent.

5. What are the users/organisations for the HRM module?

Originally Enterprise organization, Midmarket organisations, who are looking for an integrated solution, with all the benefits of a single system.

6. Can I use the On premise version of Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations?
